How to use the Rolling System
The Scale
1 - Things just went catastrophically wrong. You just hurt yourself, or maybe gave away info you didn't mean to. Maybe you just inspired them to do something really terrible to you. In essence, a one is basically the worst sort of fumble you can manage and it's only up from here.
2 - Less horribly wrong but not much better.
3 - Moderately better but still very not good.
4 - Bad, but not very bad at all.
5 - Not really bad, not really good.
6 - Things are starting to be slightly okay.
7 - Good, but not REALLY good yet.
8 - Actually kind of really decent.
9 - Really good! You're doing everything right.
10 - You've managed to pull off a feat of perfection and get so much more out of your intended actions that you're left dazed by it. Did you just one hit kill someone terrifying with a senbon? Get critical information on the leader of the faction and how to take them down just by smiling pretty? A ten is basically as good of a result as you can get.
How it Works
You can find the online number randomiser here.
The system we're using is actually incredibly simple. The lower the number you rolled, the worse things just went for you, while the higher you rolled, the better. Just remember that 1 is always a fail, and 10 is always a success, no matter what! You can determine how good those things can be based on the situation you're rolling for, of course. As you can see from the above scale, it basically gives you a bead on just how good your character is doing that day, or against that enemy.
How to use this in combat is to just roll and use the scale. Poof, you have combat, or information, or anything at all really. If you like you can even use it for simple interactions. Even something like flirting! It's all up to you, so long as your thread partner is happy to use it too.
If you want to make it more personalised, you simply decide if your character would have any kind of bonuses or minuses. Are they exhausted? Maybe you'd count every number you rolled as one lower for the interaction. Did they just take a chakra pill and get a boost two seconds ago? Maybe that would give them a bonus. Maybe your character is severely outclassed by their opponent. Give them a minus for that. Or maybe they outclass the OTHER guy. Give them a bonus! Have fun with it! NPCs might have suggested bonuses or minuses people can use, but it's really up to the players if they want to use them at all, just as this system is entirely optional.
That's it! Put the number in the header of your reply if you want everyone to see how good or bad you did and there you go!
Have fun everyone!
